Midcentury-Inspired Pied-à-Terre — Gramercy Park, New York, NY
Designed to complement a remarkable private art collection, this Gramercy Park pied-à-terre takes its spirit from the bold, graphic confidence of midcentury American design — Mad Men in its cultural reference point, but entirely its own in execution. The brief was to create an interior that could hold its own alongside serious contemporary and vintage art without ever competing with it.
Bold primary colours are deployed with discipline and wit, balanced by textural wall finishes and custom-designed rugs that give each room its own distinct character. Sculptural furniture pieces — selected for their formal quality as much as their comfort — read almost as objects in their own right, sitting in easy conversation with the clients' collection. The result is a playful yet timeless contemporary interior: confident in its palette, collected in its feel, and precisely calibrated to the scale and spirit of one of New York's most storied residential neighbourhoods.
Services provided: full interior design, furniture and art object sourcing, custom rug design, material specification, styling.
